Treatments & Therapies
Classical therapies, prepared the way they always have been here.
Classical therapies, prepared and administered the way they have been here for generations.
- Panchakarma
- The classical five-fold purification. A staged programme of preparation, elimination and rebuilding, prescribed only after assessment and carried out under supervision over several days.
- Abhyanga
- Warm medicated oil worked over the whole body in long strokes. Used both on its own and as preparation before deeper therapies.
- Pizhichil
- A continuous stream of warm medicated oil poured over the body while it is massaged. Traditionally used for stiffness, pain and depletion.
- Njavarakizhi
- Boluses of njavara rice cooked in milk and herbal decoction, applied warm. Nourishing rather than reducing — often used in recovery and in the elderly.
- Shirodhara
- A steady stream of warm oil or decoction poured across the forehead. Widely used for sleep, anxiety and mental fatigue.
- Kizhi
- Warm poultices of herbs, powders or rice applied in rhythm over the body or a specific area.
- Herbal medicines
- Internal preparations dispensed from our own kitchen — decoctions, powders, medicated ghee and oils, prepared to classical method.
- Yoga Therapy
- Postures and breathing prescribed for the individual, including modified sequences for pregnancy and the postpartum months.
- Meditation
- Guided practice used alongside psychological care for stress, sleep and emotional regulation.
- Diet therapy
- Food as treatment: what to eat, when, and in what state — matched to constitution, season and stage of life.
- Udvarthanam
- Dry or semi-dry herbal powder massage worked against the direction of hair growth. Used in weight management and hormonal conditions.
- Nethradhara
- A gentle wash of medicated liquid over the eyes, for strain, dryness and irritation.
- Steam bath
- Medicated steam, usually following oil application, to open the channels and prepare for elimination.
- Lifestyle modification
- Daily and seasonal routine — dinacharya and ritucharya — worked out with you rather than handed to you.
